A Letter to My Lover – A Short Poem

So out of touch, yet of an arms reach.

My language of love runs deep.

Something that I can teach.

But refusing to learn interrupts my heart beat.

Writing it all out to bring myself back from defeat.

Yet still somehow continuing to fall at your feet.

Thinking I have it all, just to pull back another layer.

Putting my all into you, knowing you just don’t care.

Bring up my emotions, I do not dare.

Since we both know it will only end up in flares.

Staying silent only leads to tears and empty stares.

Remember when you stood me up at the fair?

Trying to play it cool, “it was a last minute plan.”

You are no man.

Just someone who took advantage of my hand.
